The Caribbean necklaces
Creole necklaces are part of the Creole heritage since the 17th century and are a blend of African and European expertise and techniques. Traditional Antillean jewelry bear very symbolic names inspired by history, the central focus of Antillean adornment remains the necklace. The necklaces, gold beads, or link chain carry a symbolism related to the islands' history and also linked to the history of slavery. There are distinct types: the link chain necklace, a succession of pairs of hollow oval loops, and the gold bead necklace composed of gold balls.
