Creole Jewelry
The Bijoux Créoles
Jewelry has been part of the Creole heritage since the 17th century and represents a blend of African and European craftsmanship and techniques.
They bear very symbolic names inspired by history, local fauna, or flora: cinnamon apple, "tété négresse," twisted chain, thick syrup necklace, curb chain, grain of gold necklace, "wasp nest" brooch, cabbage necklace, etc.
Even today, Antillean women love to wear their finest jewelry at family events, soirées, or simply in their everyday lives.
